Changing the political game in India (2013)

During the license raj staring a private business without connections and power was a distant dream but privatization policy changed the game and now entrepreneurship is a very relevant profession in India. However, same cannot be said for politics, no kid would say that I want to be a politician, the perception is very bad and while on paper anyone can become a politician, the 'nirdaliya' candidates mostly fare dismally in elections and those with the connections or bahubal or both make their way to the assemblies. The question here is Could there be a policy which would attract even an anarchist to politics? Would legislations like lokpal be able to change the perception of the profession and render it more accessible for the real change agents? or does the flaw lie with the democratic system itself? Can 35 years down the line, your child say to you "Mom/Dad I want to be a politician in India ?

If this change has to come it should be similar to the change that made Entrepreneurship popular in India and can be brought by liberalization and growing transparency in Politics..as in the case of private business people doing business in India even though working hard were not getting what they deserved due to licence raj similarly young people who want to join politics today are afraid of the same due the lack of transparency and unequal distribution of power as UPA & their allies are controlling most of the politics in India. So a powerful bill like Lokpal if passed it can bring transparency & can definitely attract young people to join politics and if everyone is made aware about the profiles (criminal record etc. ) of the candidates including BPL people than their vote will also help in selection of right candidate but we can't say that the flaw lies with the democratic system itself because if we look at the US, there are young men & women interested and even many working in politics for the development of their country so If one democratic country can do it why can't we do it? So, definitely 35 years down the line I think if there is proper liberty & transparency provided, Politics can definitely be a relevent & dream profession for young Indian men & women.
